Before You Book

1. What types of piercings do you offer?

We offer a wide range of piercings to suit all preferences, with a few exceptions. Meghan has chosen not to perform tongue piercings and penile piercings. However, for these, we highly recommend Mauve Piercing Studio in Montreal. Additionally, we avoid piercings deemed unsafe or prone to complications, such as snake/frog eyes and cheek piercings. Your safety is always our top priority.

2. Do I need to book an appointment, or do you accept walk-ins?

We operate by appointment only to ensure every client receives the time and care they deserve. Book your appointment easily through our website [insert link].

3. How can I book an appointment?

Booking is simple! Just click on the “Book Now” button, and follow the prompts to select your service and preferred time.

4. What should I expect during a piercing appointment?

Your appointment begins with selecting from our extensive collection of high-quality jewelry. After ensuring your anatomy is suitable for the piercing and jewelry style, we’ll sterilize your chosen piece using medical-grade techniques. Once everything is ready, the piercing will be performed with precision and care. Before you leave, we’ll provide detailed aftercare instructions to ensure your piercing heals beautifully.

5. How much does a piercing cost?

Our piercing fees range from $40 to $80, depending on the service. Titanium jewelry starts at $25+ $12 for the post, allowing you to customize your look with high-quality options.

6. Do you charge extra for jewelry?

YES, the final cost includes the piercing fee, the jewelry of your choice, and applicable taxes. This ensures you’re receiving safe, high-quality jewelry suited for your new piercing.

7. Can I bring my own jewelry to be pierced with?

For safety and hygiene reasons, we do not allow outside jewelry to be used for initial piercings. All jewelry must meet the highest standards of safety, which we guarantee through our carefully curated collection.

8. What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Cash, Credit Cards, Apple Pay, Venmo, and Afterpay for your convenience. However, we do not accept checks at this time.

9. Do you have gift certificates available?

Yes! Gift certificates are available for purchase both in person and online. They make the perfect gift for any piercing enthusiast.

10. Are you licensed and certified?

While New York State does not regulate body piercing in Clinton County, we uphold the highest professional standards. Our studio is proud to be the only APP (Association of Professional Piercers) member in the entire Northeast region of New York. This means we voluntarily adhere to the industry’s highest safety and hygiene standards, ensuring you receive the best possible care.

11. What materials are your jewelry made from?

Our jewelry is crafted from the highest quality materials, including implant-grade titanium, implant-grade steel, and solid gold. We exclusively use APP-approved vendors to ensure all jewelry meets the strictest safety and quality standards, unlike many knockoff “implant-grade” options.

12. Do you sell hypoallergenic jewelry?

While the term “hypoallergenic” is often used as a marketing buzzword, our jewelry is designed specifically for body piercings and meets the highest safety standards. It is biocompatible and safe for even the most sensitive skin.

13. Do you offer gold or titanium jewelry?

We offer both! Whether you’re looking for the elegance of solid gold or the versatility of implant-grade titanium, we’ve got you covered.

20. What is your return/exchange policy on jewelry?

Due to hygiene and safety concerns, we do not accept returns or exchanges on jewelry—no exceptions. However, all our jewelry comes with a manufacturer’s guarantee, ensuring quality and peace of mind.

THE PIERCING ROOM

21. Is the piercing process sterile?

Absolutely. Our studio is as sterile as we can make it. We use only single-use needles specifically designed for body piercing. Additionally, we are 100% disposable and use a medical-grade autoclave to sterilize any non-disposable items. Your safety and hygiene are our top priorities.

22. How do you clean and sterilize your equipment?

We clean all surfaces with medical-grade disinfectant after every client to maintain a safe and hygienic environment. We also use a medical-grade autoclave, approved by the Association of Professional Piercers (APP), to sterilize tools. The autoclave is spore-tested weekly, and you can view our test results [here].

23. Are your piercers members of the Association of Professional Piercers (APP)?

Yes, all of our staff are APP members, which means they meet the highest industry standards for safety, sterilization, and technique.

24. What are the risks involved in getting a piercing?

Potential risks include:

Excessive bleeding (though rare)

Bruising around the piercing site

Scarring during healing

Rejection or migration of the jewelry

We minimize these risks by using advanced techniques and high-quality jewelry to promote proper healing.

25. Do you use piercing guns?

Never. Piercing guns cause unnecessary trauma to the tissue, are not sterile, and cannot be properly sanitized. We only use single-use, pre-sterilized needles that are much safer and gentler for the body.

26. Do you use single-use needles?

Yes, we use the sharpest, single-use, pre-sterilized needles specifically designed for body piercing. The sharper the needle, the faster the process, resulting in less skin trauma and reduced pain.

27. What are the most common signs of an infected piercing?

Common signs of an infection include:

Redness or swelling that worsens over time

Excessive pain or tenderness around the piercing

Green, yellow, or foul-smelling discharge

Heat or warmth in the area

Fever or chills (in severe cases)

If you notice these symptoms, contact us or a medical professional immediately for guidance.

28. Are your piercers trained in CPR or first aid?

Yes, all of our piercers are trained in CPR and first aid to ensure your safety throughout the process.

29. Can you pierce minors, and what are the requirements?

Yes, we can pierce minors with parental consent. Requirements include:

Ear lobes: Ages 3 months and up

Navel, nose, eyebrow, cartilage: Ages 12 and up

Please bring a valid photo ID for the parent/legal guardian and proof of the child’s age (such as a birth certificate).

30. Do you pierce babies or young children?

Yes we pierce babies as young as 3 months old please refer to our Childrens Section for our Childrens FAQ

Aftercare

31. What aftercare instructions do you provide?

We recommend using a sterile saline wound wash spray twice a day. Spray it directly on the piercing, let it sit for a moment, and gently pat it dry with a clean paper towel or non-fibrous cloth. The best thing you can do is leave your piercing alone—no twisting, turning, or unnecessary touching. Avoid using harsh chemicals like alcohol or hydrogen peroxide, as they can damage the healing tissue. For more detailed instructions, please refer to our aftercare page.

32. How long does it take for my piercing to heal?

Piercings often take much longer to heal than expected. Most piercings require a minimum of 6 months to heal, with some, like helix or nipple piercings, taking up to a year—or even longer—to fully heal.

33. Can I swim or go to the gym after getting a piercing?

You should avoid submerging your piercing in water (like pools, hot tubs, or lakes) for the first few months. If swimming is unavoidable, you can use large waterproof bandages to cover the piercing, but be sure to remove them immediately after getting out of the water and clean the area thoroughly.
The gym is fine; however, if you sweat heavily, clean your piercing gently after your workout to avoid irritation.

34. What should I avoid during the healing process?

Avoid the following during the healing process:

  • Harsh chemicals (like alcohol or hydrogen peroxide).

  • Twisting, turning, or touching the jewelry.

  • Sleeping on the piercing or bumping it frequently.
Minimizing irritation is key to proper healing!

35. Can I use over-the-counter products to clean my piercing?

Yes, sterile saline wound wash is the best option. You can find it in the first-aid section of most drugstores or grocery stores. Avoid using soaps or products that aren’t specifically designed for piercing care.

36. What should I do if my piercing gets irritated?

First, identify the source of irritation—did you bump it, twist it, or over-clean it? Sometimes, irritation is just a normal part of the healing process, and the best thing you can do is leave it alone. However, if you’re concerned or unsure, don’t hesitate to contact us for advice or assistance.

37. How do I know if my piercing is fully healed?

A fully healed piercing will have no raised tissue, redness, or tenderness around the entry or exit points. You’ll also be able to see straight through the piercing channel without any discomfort or discharge.

38. Can you help with troubleshooting piercing issues?

Yes, we provide free troubleshooting for any piercing done by us. For piercings done elsewhere, we charge a $20 service fee, plus any additional costs for jewelry if needed. We’re happy to help resolve any issues and offer expert advice.

39. How often should I clean my piercing?

Clean your piercing twice a day—no more, no less. Over-cleaning can dry out the area and cause irritation, which may slow the healing process.

40. Do you offer follow-up appointments for healing checks?

We don’t require specific appointments for healing checks, but you’re welcome to stop by anytime or reach out to us via our page if you have questions or concerns.

MISCELLANEOUS

46. Do you offer discounts or promotions?

50. Do you offer services like stretching, dermal removal, or jewelry repair?

We offer tapering services to help reopen old holes and dermal removal for a small fee. While we don’t perform jewelry repairs ourselves, our jewelry comes with a lifetime manufacturing warranty, and we can send pieces back for repair if needed.
